The first recommendation is Mt.Azuma Kofuji. From Sendai, take the highway (E4) to Fukushima, then drive along the mountain road along the Bandai Azuma Skyline to arrive at [Mt.Azuma Kofuji]. Please note that the Bandai Azuma Skyline is closed from mid-November to early April every year.

After climbing the mountain trail (stairs) from the side of the Jododaira parking lot for about 10 minutes, you will arrive at the summit. The view of the crater with a diameter of about 500m is a masterpiece. It takes about an hour to go around the crater wall, so after enjoying the scenery, don’t go around the crater and head to the parking lot. The view of Jododaira and the Fukushima Basin, which has a mysterious scenery due to volcanic gas, is also outstanding.
